A letter from a Kosovo refugee camp in Macedonia
Several years ago, I asked Hunter (Patch) Adamsi two questions:
1. What is your definition of the American dream?
2. What advice would you give to someone chasing after their dreams? Below is his timeless response back to me:

His letter read:
There is such a descrepancy between our government and its behavior and the dreams of the founding of their country that the impression one gets is that the current American Dream is to fully subsidize the super wealthy and screw every one else. The multi national corporations are instrumental in masking an “American Dream” image while flagrantly breaking the laws of their country. The current American Dream is that our whole value system is based on the massive accumulation of money and power withour regard for the consequences. My life is devoted to replace their corruption with a system based on compassion and generosity.
What advise would I give to others to chase their dreams? First, love dreams that save humankind for peace and justice. Study the issues very deeply and integrate all your interests in glorious fantasies. Be utterly enthusiastic and full of a vitality for life. Delight each day to the priviledge of following your dreams rather than focusing on the final goal. Become a master at making friends.
